Recycling at Pine Grove Middle School

In addition to Baltimore County Course Credit Requirements and Maryland State Competency Tests (MSA & HSA), students are also required to complete a minimum of 75 pre-approved Student Service Learning (SSL) hours. Here at PGMS, we offer two ways for students to earn SSL hours and help our community reduce waste – donations and/or volunteerism.

Donations

The first Aluminum Can Recycling collection for the 2009 - 2010 school year is Friday, September 11th. All cans must be rinsed, crushed, and bagged to receive full credit hours

Volunteerism

Students interested in volunteering with can collections may obtain a permission slip from their Science Teacher. As soon as a completed permission slip is turned in, students may begin earning .5 SSL hours for each Friday on duty.  Student volunteers are to report to the rear of the parking lot by 7:30 am, dressed appropriately for the weather.

Juice Pouch Fundraiser!

Pine Grove is collecting Capri Sun and other juice pouches to raise money. The funds raised will go towards Green School initiatives and the technology fund. Please save your juice pouches and bring them in, you can place them in the large yellow bin in the cafeteria. Examples of other juice pouches include Cool Aid, Minute Maid, Smart Kid, etc. We have had a wonderful start to this new program, collecting at lunch, and we will continue collecting all year. Thanks for your support and thinking GREEN!!!!
